Uruguay will reach a beef consumption of 57 kilos per person at the end of this year.

Three restaurants in Mexico have received INAC's certification under the Uruguay Natural Club protocol managed by the Institute.The first certificate was delivered at Restaurant Don Asado.
Meat audits.

INIA and INAC presented the publications of the 2nd Quality Audit on the Uruguayan Beef and Sheep Meat Chain, 2007-2008. Significant decrease of losses was found in comparison with the previous audit (28% for beef, 50% for sheep meat).

INAC at Cuba.

The National Meat Institute took part of the Havana International Fair FIHAV, in Cuba, with a stand to present Uruguayan meat, where direct negotiations with Cuban hotel businessmen were established.
Professionals headed to Japan.

Five technicians of INAC have been awarded scholarships and will travel to Japan in November in order to take part of the Program for Training and Discussion of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in the Processing of Meat Products Module.

The External Markets Director, Economist Silvana Bonsignore, and Engineer Fernando Gil, analyzed with the media the main projects planned for the rest of the year and for 2010.

Professor Bob Bansback is a Visiting Professor at Harper Adams University College, in the UK. He is also the current President of the Economics Committee of the International Meat Secretariat (IMS).

INAC presented new services for producers in the framework of Prado Exhibition 09.
World model

Uruguay completed a new step as the first country being a model for meat quality by presenting at the closing of the GlobalGap meeting in Montevideo, the label that will accompany the meat exports under the Certified Natural Meat Program.

The domestic market of Uruguay has systematically been the second most important destination of the meat produced in the country.
GlobalGAP Opening

This event is part of a world event of greater proportions, which consists of GLOBALGAP conferences being held in every one of the 5 continents where said standard for Good Agricultural Practices is present.
The SEIIC to the finals

The PMI (Project Management Institute) has selected the SEIIC - Black Boxes project as an international finalist, the project being qualified as one of the 10 best projects nominated among governmental institutions for the year 2008.
New audit

Between 22nd-26th June, 2009 the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) carried out a new audit on the Certified Natural Meat Program of Uruguay (CNMPU) with a view to assess its observance of the Process Verified Program (PVP) of said country.
Restaurant in Portugal.

July 18th, on occasion of Uruguay's Constitution Day, the first theme restaurant funded entirely by private investment will be inaugurated in Algarve, with institutional and promotional support by the National Meat Institute.
Beef consumption rises

In the first five months of the year, the beef consumption reached its highest figure since 2003 in Uruguay. The beef consumption figures are 6.5% greater than those of the same period in 2008.
