Uruguay completed a new step as the first country being a model for meat quality by presenting at the closing of the GlobalGap meeting in Montevideo, the label that will accompany the meat exports under the Certified Natural Meat Program, which will be guaranteed by the certification of GlobalGap, a world organization.

Based on the traceability systems, the label placed on boxes containing cuts exported under the protocol will bear the producer's identifying number.

The person responsible for this area at INAC, Felipe D'Albora, highlighted the feedback of these meetings that afterwards generates actual changes at consumers' level, since producers and retailers are represented in the activities, and their views are then resumed by GlobalGap's committees and work groups.

The event, held on Thursday and Friday at the Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel, promoted the importance of being part of food production lines that are safe for consumers in any part of the globe, as speakers declared.

GlobalGap's representative for Latin America, Uruguayan Fernando Mietto, stated that this event and the activities of this organization mean "opening a window to the world, seeing what is happening, and based on that, knowing where we want to go".

Among the conclusions, the various production types existing in Latin America stood out, as well as some advances that have occurred in Uruguay, which should be more promoted because they are little known abroad.
