57 kg of beef

Uruguay will reach a beef consumption of 57 kilos per person at the end of this year. The Vice president of INAC, Mr. Fernando Pérez Abella said that besides these consumption levels, the measures taken with regard to food safety are to be highlighted also.

He pointed out that the lower-income sector of the population has greater access to proteins thanks to the agreements reached with the private sector, as well as to the controls applied over products such as ground beef, the most widely consumed product.

In turn, INAC's President, Mr. Alfredo Fratti, declared that during this year consumer prices have been significantly stable; he also stated that the domestic market is always Uruguay's second best market for Uruguayan beef.
